Touareg AR app Privacy Policy.

A.   Controller

In this Privacy Statement, we inform you about the processing of your personal data by Volkswagen AG, Berliner Ring 2, 38440 Wolfsburg, email: vw@volkswagen.de, entered in the register of companies at Brunswick District Court under the register No. HRB 100484 (“Volkswagen AG”) in relation to use of the Touareg AR mobile application.

B. General information

Anonymous data collection
You can use the individual services of this app without providing us with personal information. In this case, we do not collect, process or use any personal data.

  1. Photo function
    The app enables the user to experience the Volkswagen Touareg 3 by means of augmented reality. The user may take photos, which can be shared via functions on the user’s smartphone. The configuration options shown in the app are not available to purchase in every country.
  2. Selfie function (only iPhone X)
    The app allows the users to scan their face using the Face Kit API and True Depth API. The scanned information is projected onto an avatar. In this way the user can experience sitting behind the steering wheel in the new Touareg. Photos can be taken. which can be shared via functions on the user’s smartphone. The app doesn’t save any data in this function and neither does it send any data to Volkswagen.

Your rights
You may assert the following rights in relation to Volkswagen AG at any time without cost. You can obtain further information about exercising your rights under Section C.

  1. Right of access
    You are entitled to access information from us about how we process your personal data.
  2. Right of rectification
    You are entitled to request us to rectify any of your personal data that may be incorrect or incomplete.
  3. Right of erasure
    If any of the prerequisites specified in Art. 17 GDPR are met, you are entitled to ask us to delete your data. For example, you can ask us to delete your data if it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. You can also request that your data be deleted if we process your data on the basis of your consent and you then revoke this consent.
  4. Right to restriction of processing
    If any of the prerequisites specified in Article 18 of the GDPR are met, you have the right to request that the processing of your data be restricted. For example, this could be the case if you dispute the correctness of your data. You can then request processing be restricted while we check whether your data is correct.  
  5. Right to object
    You have the right to object to your data being processed if processing is based on an overriding interest or your data are used for the purposes of direct advertising. An objection is permitted if processing is performed in either the public interest or for the exercise of public authority or if it is performed for a legitimate interest of Volkswagen AG or a third party. If you object to data processing, please specify the reasons why you object to data processing. You also have the right to object to data processing for the purposes of direct advertising. The same applies to profiling, provided this is related to direct advertising.  
  6. Right to data portability
    If a data processing activity is based on consent or the execution of a contract and takes place in an automatic process, you are entitled to receive your data in structured, conventional and machine-readable format and to then send this to another data processor.
  7. Right of revocation
    If the data processing is based on a consent, you have the right to revoke the data processing in the context of a consent with effect for the future at any time free of charge.
  8. Right to complain
    You are also entitled to complain about our processing of your data by contacting a regulatory authority (e.g. the Data Protection Commissioner for the State of Lower Saxony).
