Visit the Emden factory, where the Passat has been built since 1978.
The Volkswagen factory in Emden was founded in 1964. The first Beetle rolled off the production line that very same year. It was followed by many other models. Today, the Emden factory produces the Volkswagen Passat as Saloon and Estate models, as well as the Passat Alltrack and the Passat GTE. Our factory tour has been specially designed to take groups of visitors through the production facility and enable you to experience vehicle production up-close in our ‘factory on the sea’.
Volkswagen in Emden is the biggest employer west of Bremen and north of the Ruhr area. To date, a total of over 11 million vehicles have been produced here. The Volkswagen Emden factory covers an area of around 4.3 million square metres. The site also includes storage areas for vehicle shipping and a test track.
Visits are available through advance booking and run on Monday to Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Factory tours are not available at weekends, on days when there is no production or during the factory holidays. Tours can be booked as groups or by individuals. For organisational reasons, the group size is restricted to a maximum of 30 people. The factory tours are conducted in German and are available in English on request.
If you are arriving by coach, please report to the main guard post with your registration form and then drive onto the factory site. After the main guard post, please drive left until you reach the administration building. Here you will find a bus stop where you can park the coach for the duration of the visit. Please do not allow visitors to disembark anywhere other than this bus stop.
Photography and filming is prohibited on the entire factory site. Camera phones and audio recordings are also prohibited.
We reserve the right to make changes to the itinerary and to cancel the FactoryTour for operational reasons at short notice. We do not accept any liability for any loss incurred as a result of this.
